A Limited 50th Anniversary edition identified from the factory as Toyota’s “Special Version”. Make no mistake this no ordinary Mark X. To most this model will be unheard of with limited information online due to being built in such few numbers. We can confidently say this is the only Special Version in the UK and possibly the whole of Europe.
Built by Modellista and TOM’s Japan as a joint collaboration producing 320bhp straight out the factory, it’s fair to say that these were certainly some impressive figures when it rolled off the production line back in 2006. To support the extra power Toyota’s engineers equipped the “Special Version” with various handling and chassis upgrades as well as adding subtle aesthetic touches to highlight the fact that this is something truly exceptional.
Factory 3.0 V6 3GR-FSE engine, built by Modellista and TOM’s Japan producing 320bhp from factory mated to 6 speed auto box (Gears can also be selected manually from the shifter)

A true collector’s item in factory unmolested condition. All factory “Special Version” attributes are still retained. The vehicle comes with an extensive pack of paperwork including all the original owner manuals and books, partial Japanese service history and two keys. Most importantly it even comes with the dedicated “Modellista Special Version” catalogue which lists all the changes that were made for this special edition as well as highlighting all the care and maintenance needed to keep the vehicle mechanically preserved for years to come.
We cannot stress enough how difficult it is to source such an exceptional example that has been cherished throughout its life in Japan. The previous owner has clearly valued the importance of keeping this vehicle in stock form and maintained it religiously over the years.
Overall, in excellent condition for the age and mileage, exterior has very little imperfections to report (detailed pictures available). The interior has been well preserved with no bad odours or smells. This model of Mark X’s are known for the common issue of the dash cracking. Although this does have a few small cracks it is far better than many we have seen out in Japan. Drives incredibly well, tons of torque and power with the supercharger package producing a great noise which you can never get bored of. The underneath of the vehicle is completely rust free and hasn’t been undersealed to hide anything.
A superb alternative to a Toyota Crown which shares similar levels of luxury however the Mark X is a noticeable lighter vehicle overall which gives a much more responsive and involving driving experience. The addition of the supercharger and further suspension upgrades results in a thrilling driving experience yet a super refined long-distance cruiser when it is required. Would surprise a lot of vehicles on the road including all its German rivals. If you are looking for a vehicle that combines performance and luxury then this is the car for you.
